Aerothermal Air-Source Heat Pumps

Aerothermal (air-source) heat pumps are not as efficient as geothermal but are still an effective technology in the right climate. They exchange energy with the outside air and transfer it to the interior to provide hot water for heating and domestic hot water, or chilled water for cooling. The GeoSmart NetZero Air series is available in a wide range of power that covers from 1 kW to 20 kW in our residential range with all of them incorporating variable speed inverter driven compressors. The inverter regulates the speed of the compressor and thanks to GeoSmart’s NetZero control strategies it adapts in every moment to your comfort demand, which allows it to always perform at its highest possible efficiency.

Our most efficient aerothermal air-source heat pumps are the so-called air-to-water monobloc heat pumps. These units extract heat from the air and transfer it to the water, unlike an air conditioner (air-to-air heat pump) that extracts heat from the air and transfers it to the interior through the air only, making it unable to heat domestic hot water (DHW).

Thanks to the high performance of aerothermal heat pumps, we can multiply electricity consumption by 3, 4 and 5 (depending on the external conditions and the installation), i.e., with 1 kW of electricity consumed we can generate 3 kW to 5 kW of thermal energy.
